The “Petting Barnyard” is family friendly and features Sheep, a Baby Chick hatching exhibit, Goats, Horses, Cattle, a Donkey, a Mini Donkey, a Mini Pig, a Dairy Cow and more. The “Petting Barnyard” is managed by the FFA students who attend the Fayette Technical Center- Locust-Trace Agri’Science Farm. The Eastside FFA chapter is the only one of its kind for Fayette County students who are interested in the agricultural industry.
Feed will be on sale and families will be able to hand feed most of the animals on display with the proceeds helping to defray costs for Eastside projects within the Lexington community. The “Petting Barnyard” is educational and will have information about all the animals on display. Eastside FFA students will be available to answer questions about the animals along with supervising all interactions with the animals stressing fun and safety.
The “Petting Barnyard” is located in front of the Fayette County Agricultural Expo Center which is located on the grounds of the Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair and has become a showcase for 4-H / FFA members exhibiting livestock and other projects. One of the agricultural center’s purposes is to promote agriculture through education of the community regarding agricultural issues and providing a meeting place for those interested in agriculture.
The “Petting Barnyard” is free to see with admission to the Bluegrass Fair.
